Palm Springs opens Indian Canyon, Gene Autry Trail and Vista Chino after gusty winds subside



Update 10:00 a.m. Thursday: Indian Canyon at the wash is now open, all roads in Palm Springs at the wash are now open.

Update 8:00 a.m. Thursday- Gene Autry Trail and Vista Chino are open again. Indian Canyon Drive remains closed to traffic through the Whitewater wash, according to the Palm Springs Police Department in a post on X.

Update 9:00 a.m. Palm Springs Police announced that Vista Chino was also closed at the wash.

Gene Autry has been shut down at the wash, PSPD announced

The city of Palm Springs has closed N Indian Canyon at the wash due to low visibility.

Viewer photos show bad conditions along the roadway as winds have picked up the sand in the area

PSPD Lt. Gustavo Araiza said police are also assessing the status of Gene Autry Trail at the wash, which usually also has visibility issues when it gets windy.

A First Alert Weather Alert has been issued for gusty winds through Wednesday
