Rancho Mirage High School band invited to perform in Japan
WorldStrides invited Rancho Mirage High School's band department to be a featured music program to tour Japan in the summer of 2024. They will visit Tokyo, Hiroshima, Hakone, Kyoto, and Osaka..
The band has a history of winning titles and has been recognized by WorldStrides. They are two-time consecutive national champions at WorldStrides Music Festival, Anaheim 2022, and Hollywood 2023.
The cost of this trip is $6,500 per person. The band director, Dr. Brian McDaniel, says they will take ninety students and ten staff chaperons. According to the Band Director, this will be the band's first international tour. The tour includes their Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Strings Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, and Concert Choir.
At the Rancho Mirage State of the City, the council donated $25,000 towards the trip.
The band will continue winning competitions to raise the funds for the trip. If you want to donate, you can go to their website or mail your donation.

The above video is the band's submission to the Metallica Marching Band Competition. On November 17th, The Metallica competition will open up voting to the public- Voting. The winners will be announced December 1st.

In a conversation with the band director, he mentioned yes, this is the Rancho Mirage High School Band, but the members represent the entire Coachella Valley. He says his students come from all of the valley cities.
