Mizell Center celebrates opening of newly renovated kitchen

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday afternoon for a newly renovated kitchen at the Mizell Center in Palm Springs.

The Palm Springs City Council joined officials from Mizell Center to unveil the newly renovated kitchen, which serves hundreds of meals to seniors every weekday.

The renovations were made possible with over $500,000 in Measure J sales tax dollars.

"The Measure J is an oversite commission for the city of Palm Springs, community infrastructure projects throughout the city," said Naomi Soto, chair of the Measure J Commission for the city of Palm Springs. "One percent comes from our sales tax, all of our residents in Palm Springs.

The renovations greatly increased the size of the kitchen.
