The County of Riverside Infrastructure Department has closed a whitewater bridge that is visibly damaged. It has collapsed. The bridge is on Whitewater Cutoff near the Whitewater Rock and Supply Company, parallel to the I-10.

From The County of Riverside Public Information Officer:

This bridge was closed during Hurricane Hilary back in August due to damage sustained during the storm.

There are no impact to residents. This bridge was only used by one local business, which has another point of access – or route in and out of the location. In addition, one or two water utilities also used this bridge when it was operational. Those utilities are also using another means of access to their facilities.

The bridge isn’t connected to the I-10 at all and will not impact operations to the 10 Freeway in any way. We’ve been preparing to demolish the bridge since the damage in August. Our next board meeting will include a contract to start the demolition of the bridge.

Riverside County Transportation continues to monitor the situation and continues cleanup of damaged roadways from Hurricane Hilary.
