Groundbreaking underway for 5th Annual St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway in La Quinta

It's groundbreaking day!

News Channel 3 and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are teaming up for the 5th Annual St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway.

A groundbreaking ceremony is set for Tuesday inside the Bajada Estates in La Quinta, where the next Dream Home will be. The 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath (plus flex room) house will be built by GHA Companies and worth an estimated $850,000.

Mayor Linda Evans, GHA Companies and a representative from the Warburton Celebrity Golf Tournament are expected to be in attendance.

Only 17,500 tickets will be sold.

All proceeds go toward St. Jude to help children battling cancer. The funds are used for treatment, travel, housing or food.

When St. Jude opened in 1962, childhood cancer was considered incurable. Since then, St. Jude has helped push the overall survival rate from 20% to more than 80%. St. Jude treats children from all 50 states, including kids here in the Coachella Valley, and around the world.
