Magnitude 7.6 Earthquake Strikes Mindanao, Philippines

 A magnitude 7.6 earthquake was reported near the island of Mindanao.

It struck the island around 10:30 p.m. local time and is under a tsunami warning with several countries nearby could be hit by large waves.

Officials say a potential magnitude 5.3 aftershock also hit the same area.

Residents are being told to evacuate to higher ground immediately or to move inland. 

The National Weather Center is saying San Diego and the West Coast are not expected to be hit with a tsunami or seismic waves.
