Firefighters Battle 2-acre fire in an unincorporated part of Thousand Palms

Cal Fire is trying to put out a small blaze near the 27000 block of Rio Del Sol Road in the unincorporated part of Thousand Palms.

Officials say the fire broke out just before 2:30 a.m. Monday.

Cal Fire tells News Channel 3 that 2 acres of 15-foot mulch piles and landscape debris are burning and that they are unable to reach the fire due to the terrain, wind, and smoke.

They say fire engines and fire crews will be on-scene working to fully contain the small blaze.

Calfire adds smoke will be visible throughout the Coachella Valley area.
