Record Fire near San Jacinto: 650 acres with 30% containment, evacuation warnings lifted, firefighter injured

Update: September 2, 2024 - 6:45 p.m.

The fire is now 30% contained and 650 acres burned with minimal growth observed since Monday morning, according to CAL FIRE.

Update: September 2, 2024 - 5:30 p.m.

All evacuation warnings are being lifted in the Poppet Flats area after it was issued yesterday for that 517-acre brush fire burning in San Jacinto Area, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Update: September 2, 2024 - 4 p.m.

The fire has been downgraded to 517 acres due to more accurate mapping, CAL FIRE announced. It remains at 15% containment.

One firefighter was airlifted to a ground ambulance due to a "minor medical complaint."

Update: September 2, 2024 - 8 a.m.

Cal Fire says 650 acres and is now 15% contained.

Evacuation warnings remain in place for Poppet Flats.

Update: September 1, 2024 - 10 p.m.

Evacuation warnings are in place for homes along Poppet Flats off of State Route 243.

A care and reception site has been set up at Nicolet Middle School in Banning off of 101 E Nicolet St.

According to Cal Fire six firefighters were transported to nearby hospitals with minor medical symptoms.

Cal Fire Riverside County is working to contain the Record Fire north of San Jacinto.

The fire was first reported off of Soboba and Gilman Springs roads shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday.

As of 8:30 p.m. Sunday evening the fire has burned 650 acres with 0% containment.

According to reports ground crews are combatting flames burning in light to medium vegetation with the help of air resources.

According to CAL Fire's incident page there are currently 175 personnel and 21 engines assigned to the fire.

CAL Fire Peace Officers have determined that the fire was human caused.

Evacuation orders have been issued nearby, and an investigation is underway.
