A gas leak in Beaumont prompted evacuation and shelter-in-place orders that lasted for several hours on Wednesday.

The gas leak was first reported at around 9:40 a.m. in the area of E 8th Street and Cherry Avenue.

The leak was mitigated by 1:30 p.m., with all evacuation and shelter-in-place orders lifted, CAL FIRE confirmed.
