Riverside County Sheriff's homicide investigators arrested two suspects in the shooting death of a 44-year-old man last month in Coachella.

Gael Silva, 18, and a 17-year-old teen boy were arrested Tuesday in Coachella. Silva was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of murder, while the 17-year-old was booked into juvenile hall.

Silva is expected to enter pleas to felony counts of murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm during an arraignment Thursday at the Larson Justice Center in Indio, according to case records.

In a separate case, Silva pleaded guilty in September to a felony charge of carrying a loaded firearm without being the registered owner, for which he received a sentence including 24 months of probation, according to case records. A felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon inside a vehicle was dismissed.

The 18-year-old has been booked into Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside, and the teen was booked into juvenile hall.

The shooting happened at around 3:20 a.m. on Oct. 12 within the 51800 block of Shady Lane. Deputies arrived at the scene and found Roman Gamboa, 44, of Thermal, dead with gunshot wounds.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the Sheriff's Office says that anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Investigator Ortiz with the Central Homicide Unit at (951) 955-2777 or Investigator Glasper with the Thermal Station at (760) 863-8990.
