Imperial County Registrar of Voters releases official final results of March 4 special election

The Imperial County Registrar of Voters posted the Election Summary Report with the official final results of the March 4, 2025 special election on Tuesday afternoon.

All three incumbents for Coachella Valley Unified School District trustees in Areas 1, 2, and 4 were re-elected to their seats.

The returning incumbents are Trinidad Arredondo in Area 1, Jesus Gonzalez in Area 2, and Jocelyn Vargas in Area 4.

The special election on March 4th was held because of a ballot issue in Imperial County back in November.

The Coachella Valley Unified School District right now is facing hundreds of job cuts and tens of millions of dollars in spending cuts.

UPDATE: March 4, 2025

IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KESQ) - Polls closed in Imperial County at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday for the open Coachella Valley Unified School District trustee seats.

According to the Imperial County Registrar of Voters Calendar of Events on the Registrar's web page, the Registrar will begin processing the ballots no later than Thursday, March 6. All vote-by-mail ballots are due by Tuesday, March 11.

The deadline for the Registrar's Statement of Vote announcing the results of the Imperial County election is April 4.

The Riverside County Registrar posted the CVUSD trustee seat final official election results from Riverside County at 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

In Trustee Area 1, Trinidad "Trini" Arredondo leads with 63.61 percent of the votes. In Trustee Area 2, Jesus Gonzalez leads with 55.79 percent of the votes, and in Trustee area 4, Jocelyn Vargas leads with 58.60 percent of the votes.

The winners cannot be determined until vote totals are available from both counties.

March 3, 2025

A special election will be held Tuesday for three Coachella Valley Unified School District trustee seats impacted by an issue with ballots in Imperial County.

CVUSD trustee areas one, two, and four will be on the ballots -- after the district announced they were accidentally excluded from Imperial County ballots just a day before the election. 

The district's boundaries extend into both Riverside and Imperial counties. 

There is no election in Riverside County on Tuesday, but the release of the results from November has been on hold since then. 

The Riverside County Registrar of Voters will release their certified results at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. 

The Imperial County results are set to be certified by March 18.
