Rally at Palm Springs city hall as council weighs major warehouse project
PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) - Dozens gathering outside Palm Springs City Hall on Wednesday as opponents rallied against a proposed 217-acre warehouse complex.
The demonstration, led by the Oswit Land Trust, took place before the council meeting began. Protesters urged city leaders to reject the Desert Mountain View Business Park project — a proposal from the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians that would be built between Highway 111 and Interstate 10.
Opponents argued the site is zoned for open space and warned the project could violate air-quality standards, worsen public health, impact groundwater quality and supply, threaten federally protected endangered species, and cause significant traffic congestion. They also criticized what they described as an rushed review process.
