Palm Springs Police investigating fatal hit-and-run along Highway 111

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) - Palm Springs police say they are now investigating fatal hit and run after a body was discovered off the side of the roadway on Highway 111, between Tipton Road and Snowcreek Canyon Road, southeast of Whitewater.
The northbound lanes of Highway 111 had been closed as police investigated, but have since reopened.
Police say they responded to the area around 10:37 a.m. after a bicyclist traveling along Highway 111 discovered the body.
Investigators determined that the victim was likely struck by a car, which had left the scene before authorities arrived.
Investigators are seeking information regarding a possible suspect vehicle described as white in color, which may have front-end or front passenger-side damage, including possible headlight damage.
The identity of the decedent is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office has been notified and is assisting with the investigation.
