CVUSD plans new budget cuts after falling short of savings goals

THERMAL, Calif. (KESQ) - After falling short of its projected savings and revenues for 2024-25, the Coachella Valley Unified School District is preparing for about $20 million in ongoing budget cuts over the next few school years.

The move follows last year’s $57 million in cuts. Those reductions included staffing layoffs and program adjustments, but district officials say ultimately produced less savings than projected.

Some have raised concerns about how the cuts could impact students, staff and programs.
