PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) — The Palm Springs Police Department is celebrating Chief Andrew Mills’ years of service as he prepares to conclude his tenure as chief.

The department will host a special event Thursday afternoon at the Palm Springs Convention Center titled “Celebrating a Legacy of Leadership: The Mission Continues.”

The event will bring together Palm Springs police officers, city leaders, community partners and friends to recognize Mills’ leadership and contributions to the department and the Palm Springs community.

The department says Mills’ departure marks the end of an important chapter for the Palm Springs Police Department, while the event’s theme — “The Mission Continues” — reflects the department’s focus on moving forward.

Mills and Deputy Chief Kyle Stjerne are expected to deliver remarks during the event. Lieutenant Michael Torres will serve as master of ceremonies.

The celebration will also give members of the department and community an opportunity to wish Mills and his wife, Cathy, well as they move on to their next adventure.
