Riverside County shelters offer reduced adoption fees through September 30

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KESQ) — Riverside County Animal Services (RCDAS) is joining BISSELL Pet Foundation’s nationwide Empty the Shelters adoption event, offering reduced adoption fees through September 30.

During the event, cats and dogs can be adopted for $70 or less. All adopted pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

RCDAS currently has more than 1,000 pets available for adoption and continues to face overcrowding at its shelters.

“We want to help as many pets as possible to find loving homes,” said RCDAS Assistant Director Dr. Kimberly Youngberg. “We are still battling significant overcrowding.”

Adoptions are available at:

• Coachella Valley Animal Campus: 72-050 Pet Land Place, Thousand Palms
• San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus: 581 S. Grand Ave., San Jacinto
• Western Riverside County/City Animal Shelter: 6851 Van Buren Blvd., Jurupa Valley
• Blythe Animal Shelter: 245 S. Carlton Ave., Blythe

The first three locations are open Tuesday–Friday, 11 a.m.–6 p.m., and Saturday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Blythe is open Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

Residents can view adoptable pets at rcdas.org/adopt. Short-term foster opportunities are also available at rcdas.org/foster.

“Come find your new companion and help make space for pets in need,” said Fifth District Supervisor Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez.
