Indio man arrested on suspicion of selling counterfeit luxury merchandise

INDIO, Calif. (KESQ) - A 23-year-old Indio man was arrested after allegedly advertising and selling counterfeit luxury merchandise through social media platforms, the Riverside County Sheriff's Office announced.

Authorities said in April 2026, the Southern Coachella Valley Community Service District Team (SCVCSD) began its investigation regarding the sale of counterfeit luxury merchandise in the Coachella Valley region.

Investigators identified the suspect, who was arrested on Friday.

Deputies assigned to the Coachella Community Action Team (CCAT), with the assistance of the Rural Crimes Team at the Thermal Sheriff’s Station, served a a search warrant was executed at a residence on the 40500 block of Alabama Hills Drive in Indio.

During the search warrant, 293 pieces of counterfeit luxury merchandise were located, including shoes, handbags, wallets, perfumes, and clothing, most of which were branded with various high-end labels.

The approximate value of the recovered items was in excess of $15,000.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for intentionally selling and knowingly possessing counterfeit trademark-registered items for sale.
