Why do leaves change colors in the fall and where to see them

Here on the valley floor, we don't get to see too much fall foliage. But, if you've got an itch to see the fall colors, you can head on up to the San Bernardino National Forest in Idyllwild.

The Forest Service recommends taking a drive down Highway 243 from Banning to Idyllwild to experience some fantastic views and to see some of the fall foliage yourself. They also recommended Lake Fulmore, the Fuller Mill Creek Picnic Area and the Ernie Maxwell Trail in Idyllwild. They just ask that you get an Adventure Pass from the United States Forest Service before heading out to those spots.

The best time to see the fall foliage before the leaves fall for the winter is right now! So, you should head on up to Idyllwild to see all that fall has to offer if you get the chance.
