The Cathedral City council approved funding to use on the search for a new police chief.

The city will spend $25,000 to help fill the position. The money will come from the General Fund Budget, according to the city.

The city council voted to hire outside firm "Bob Murray and Associates" to help in the search for the next chief. The city has used the firm in the past to help in the searches for both a city manager and police chief.

Former Chief Travis Walker left the position last month following a months-long investigation that involved allegations of sexual assault.
