BNP Paribas Open heading into Round 2
It's the first weekend of competition at the BNP Paribas Open.
The tournament expects to host thousands of fans.
"We're ready to welcome our guests," said Philippe Dore, Chief Marketing Officer of the BNP Paribas Open. "We have two packed days of action. We play on nine stadiums and 20 practice courts. We have activities on-site, food options. We're in for a spectacular weekend."
The tournament not only gives exposure to Indian Wells but also boosts our local economy.
Tournament officials say the event provides $400 million to the desert each year.
The Tennis Garden is expected to be crowded this weekend as round two of the event begins today.
Competition will become fierce.
Dore says the talent this year is unmatched. "We have all the top players in the professional tennis world here.
Both men's and women's sides. We have five-time champion Novak Djokovic here, we've got Coco Gauff, and [Aryna] Sabalenka, the list goes on and on and on."
