Conservative groups prepare for President-elect Donald Trump to take office

As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to take office, conservative groups in the Coachella Valley are making preparations.

Republicans in the valley are ecstatic, including Joy Miedecke, president of the East Valley Republican Women Patriots group.

"You know, we won almost all our races. California is waking up and Riverside is red," Miedecke said before Jose Gonzalez, who today declared his victory for the 36th State Assembly District, took the stage at the Patriot Store in Palm Desert.

But Miedecke is clear that the group is still working to secure more seats for Republicans in future races.

"We never stop. We have a governor's race that we're going to get after here real quick and find some great candidates," she says.

Also at the Patriot Store: new merchandise, like hats, license plate frames, pins, and T-shirts to celebrate President-elect Trump, his cabinet members, and other Republican candidates, which Miedecke says are flying off the shelves.

"People are really enjoying it and proud. We're all proud to be able to wear a Trump hat. I mean, we're proud of it and nobody's getting any flak. So it's all good," she explains with a smile.

The East Valley Republican Women plan to host additional events surrounding their victories this election, including a luncheon to watch President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration on January 20th.

As for voters on the other side of the aisle, Miedecke says, "We're not really reaching out but we welcome them with open arms if they want to come in and enjoy what we're enjoying, we're all for it. I think a lot of people left the Democrat Party to become Republicans. We had a lot of voter registrations that way."
