Palm Springs Pride week to get underway with Latin Pride Fiesta Thursday
Palm Springs Pride Week is set to get underway Thursday with the free inaugural Latin Pride Fiesta in the Arenas District.
The celebration, which will be hosted by Chichi Fuera, will get underway at 5 p.m. on Arenas Road between Indian Canyon Drive and Calle Encilia until 10 p.m. Thursday, according Greater Palm Springs Pride CEO Ron deHarte.
"Palm Springs, renowned for its vibrant culture and inclusive atmosphere, recognizes the significance of hosting a Latin Gay Pride celebration,'' deHarte said in a statement. "This event is a powerful testament to our city's commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and embracing the rich tapestry of our community.''
The event will feature a lineup of artists performing and spinning Latin hits like salsa, merengue, reggaeton, and cumbia, according to deHarte. The lineup will be made up of DJ Ben, Mareeka's Reventon Latino Drag Revue, Gisselle Woo and the Night Owls, and DJ Tatiana.
"By showcasing the intersection of Latinx and LGBTQ+ identities, we aim to foster greater understanding, unity, and acceptance among residents and visitors alike,'' deHarte said. "Plus, there is no need to buy expensive tickets; our events are free for all to attend."
Pride Week will continue until Sunday with events scheduled each day, including Broadway in Drag Friday, a performance from Idina Menzel Saturday, and the Pride Parade Sunday.
