Local teen golfer Johnny Brande dies after battle with rare bone cancer

PALM DESERT, Calif. (KESQ) - Johnny Brande, a local teen golfer, died today after his battle with a rare bone cancer called Ewing's Sarcoma.

Johnny was only 16 years old.

Johnny was diagnosed back in May and was treated at the UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center.

Johnny received support from the sports community throughout the whole state. The LA Dodgers invited him to throw the first pitch back in September, Chargers offensive lineman Joe Alt paid him a visit in the hospital, and the whole UCLA baseball team did the same.

In September, Johnny finished his 25th and final day of radiation. A month later, he had surgery and received more chemo and physical therapy.
