Dust Settles, Air Quality Improves as Cooler Weather Continues

Air quality is back to "good" and the dust we experienced from yesterdays haboob has calmed and improved dramatically.

We're also finally getting a nice break from the extreme heat and humidity we've been dealing with the past few weeks.

Highs will hover near 100 degrees through the next couple of days—well below average for mid-August—as drier air continues to push out our lingering monsoonal moisture. Typical highs this week are about 108 degrees.

Gusty west winds will pick up again this afternoon and evening, especially through the San Gorgonio Pass, where gusts could approach 60 mph.

We'll gradually warm through the weekend with lower 100s returning, but humidity should continue to drop and conditions stay mostly dry.

Temperatures climb back toward our seasonal average around 109 degrees by Tuesday and Wednesday, when a little monsoonal moisture may try to sneak back in and bring a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms to the mountains and deserts.
