Insider Blog: Fire weather conditions

California is no stranger to fire. As of October 30, 2023, more than 312,000 acres have been burned by fires over the past year. CAL FIRE has battled more than 6,000 wildfires in the same time frame.

There are a few main factors that are important for critical fire conditions. They are fast winds, low humidity, unstable air and drought. Not all conditions are needed for the spread of fires, but each plays an important role.

It's important to always stay vigilant about fires at all times and to make sure that you do everything you can to help prevent the start and spread of fires.
