Breezy nights ahead of strong Santa Anas this weekend

Like last night, west winds will strengthen into the evening with gusts 20-25 MPH along the interstate, stronger through the San Gorgonio Pass. The winds we're experiencing this week are just a small experience for what will arrive this weekend.

Onshore flow will continue throughout the week, keeping afternoons and evenings breezy. The trough placement is also aiding the milder temperatures we've been experiencing.

High temperatures in the 80s will continue into the weekend, with overnight lows headed into the 50s!

A High Wind Watch has been issued for local mountains and the San Gorgonio Pass, stretching into the Northern Coachella Valley, beginning early Sunday. The offshore direction from which they'll arrive will rapidly dry out Southern California regions, dropping relative humidity to 5-10% and elevating fire weather conditions.

The First Alert Weather Team is issuing a First Alert Weather Alert for Sunday and Monday for strong Santa Ana winds over 30 MPH around the Coachella Valley. These winds will impact your day by making travel difficult, especially through the San Gorgonio Pass, and may cause damage to trees and other objects.
