It's a toasty day here in the Coachella Valley. In fact, it's the hottest day of the year so far. While we are still awaiting the official numbers for the day, Palm Springs recorded a temperature of 100°F today. That not only makes today the hottest day of the year so far, but it also would smash the previous record for the day of 97°F.

Indio also broke a record high temp today reaching 102°F.

This is the earliest we've hit triple digits in the year in 18 years!

This week's heat is thanks to a large ridge of high pressure, but there is some relief in sight. A weak area of low pressure will move into Southern California by Wednesday. This will usher in some breezy conditions and a cooling trend. Onshore flow and breezy conditions in the afternoon/evening will continue on Thursday and Friday as we monitor a large area of low pressure in the Pacific Northwest.

As mentioned before, there is a cooling trend in store for the coming days. Highs will fall throughout the rest of the workweek, with this weekend having temperatures in the mid-low 80s. Sunny skies are expected during this time.
