Continuing to track temperatures well above average

Good morning. It is simply put, hot for this time of year in the Coachella Valley. The average high temperature for this time of year is 87°F. Our average high yesterday was 97°F! That means we are seeing highs of 10° higher than usual. This isn't quite record-breaking for our afternoon temperatures, but we did break an overnight temperature record. We broke the record for the warmest overnight temperature for the day, only falling to 71° in Palm Springs. Offshore/Santa Ana winds are still present across part of southern California, but aren't as strong as yesterday. There is still an elevated fire risk for some higher elevations in Los Angeles, Ventura, and Kern Counties.

Don't expect any major cooldowns in the next week or so. Our temperature forecast shows us how our temperatures will look in about 6-10 days from now. The solid warm colors indicate that we will continue to see temperatures above normal into the start of November.

Highs will stay in the mid-upper 90s for at least the next week or so. This includes Halloween, so stay safe when our and about. Also, don't forget to change your clocks on Sunday morning as we return to Daylight Saving Time.
