Federal court rules detained immigrant children must be quickly released from detention

A federal appeals court ruled Wednesday that Homeland Security officials must quickly release immigrant children – but not their parents – from family detention centers after being picked up crossing the border without documentation. Valley homicides down in 2016

Halfway through 2016, law enforcement officers across the Coachella Valley reported homicides are down from this time last year. There have been 10 homicides in the desert in 2016. By July 2015, there had been 22. It’s a drastic difference for desert cities such as Desert Hot Springs, which had six homicides by July 2015.
