More than a dozen firefighters helped rescue an injured hiker on a trail in La Quinta Sunday afternoon. Crews responded to a hiker that fell on the La Quinta Cove to Lake Cahuilla Trail just after 1:30 p.m. The man suffered moderate injuries, and was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

The city of Indio’s Public Works Department has announced road closures for this week, while crews work on the Jefferson Street interchange project. The closures of northbound and westbound Indio Boulevard at Jefferson Street will begin Monday morning at 6 a.m., and will continue through Friday afternoon.

Hundreds gathered at a car wash fundraiser in Indio, an effort to raise money for the Leon family, whose daughter died Wednesday. Elizabeth Castro Leon was 15-years-old and attended Indio High School. Those who helped organize the car wash say they did it to support the Leon family and help raise funds for funeral services.
