Violations to close Village Pub for 30 days
The Village Pub in downtown Palm Springs is set to close for 30 days due to a violation, according to the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. The pub is slated to close for the thirty-day-period beginning Thursday, August 24.
Our research has uncovered the reason for the closure.
We spoke with John Carr, public information officer for the ABC, who said that on October 22, 2016, ABC found two violations of the Beverage Control Act.
One violation is that an employee had battered a patron, the other was regarding a manager who was not qualified by the ABC. Carr said that the bar did not submit an application to get their management certified.
There is usually a hearing between the ABC and the Village Pub owner as part of the disciplinary process, but the owner chose to waive their right to a hearing and instead accepted a 30-day suspension, Carr said.
The Village Pub held a news conference Tuesday at 4 p.m. to answer questions regarding the closure.
Restaurant officials released the following statement:
“Thank you all for your support. This includes all our awesome customers as well our wonderful and loyal staff. I’m sure by now most of you heard the sad news about our liquor license being suspended for 30 days, starting in about 2 weeks. Please rest assured this has nothing to do with serving minors or any fraction of this magnitude.
We thank you all for being so loyal and look forward to seeing you again soon. We’re going to take this time to clean, refresh retrain and use the time effectively. As you know this business is not an exact science and things happen. My sister and I do our best to uphold all the laws, and we will continue to do so. We’ve trusted people in the past that we shouldn’t have trusted. We too learned a lesson!
Our temporary shutdown slated to start on Thursday August 24. We are planning to re-open September 23. Though we’re still going to be enjoying your company for the next two weeks. we miss you already.
We have been in business at this location for 21+ years now. We look forward for your support and let’s make the next 21 years even better.
