Geese cause Palm Desert power outage

Palm Desert residents were without power Thursday morning after a flock of geese flew into power lines and caused an explosion.

The outage happened on Wyoming Avenue and Texas avenue at 8:24AM. Southern California Edison, Cal Fire crews arrived at the scene as the explosion set fire to a cable box but that fire was quickly put out. 1,067 customers were initially affected by the power outage.

Some customers are still without power and Southern California Edison crews are still at the scene.
