Players share what they would do if they won Powerball Jackpot
No one matched all six numbers drawn in Saturday night’s Powerball drawing. The jackpot was $541 million. The prize has now gone up to an estimated $650-million.
We talked to people buying tickets Sunday to see what they would do with the money.
“Pay off my mortgage, help family members and maybe donate a little to the community,” Israel Ibarra said.
He said $650 million is hard to imagine.
“Wow, that’s a lot. I don’t know how to react if I did win that,” Ibarra said.
Some plan to use the money to help others.
“Probably give it to my kids,” said Luis.
Others said they’d keep it for themselves.
“Probably gonna buy a new TV,” Lee Duncan said.
One person even said he would use his winnings and host a Barbeque in Charlottesville, Virginia, to unite the country in the wake of the violence over racism and white supremacy.
“Where we’ve got all this racial tension right now, and see if we can have one side on one side of the table and the other side on the other. And see if we can have a meal and relax and take a deep breath,” Victor King said.
The current jackpot has been growing since June and it’s the second-highest level in Powerball history. There’s been 21 straight drawings with no winner.
Empolyees at the Flying J in Thousand Palms said when the Powerball gets this high, everyone buys a ticket.
The next Powerball drawing will be Wednesday.
