The Firebirds started out strong, taking the lead in the 2nd Period thanks to goals from Alexander True and Jasper Froden.

But unfortunately, the Canucks came back, scoring three goals in the 3rd Period. True scored a second goal late in the 3rd but it was too little, too late.

The firebirds played in front of a small invited audience of owners, investors, sponsors, and media.
With the loss, the firebirds are 2-1 in their inaugural season with still a lot of hockey to be played. The team will play again Sunday, Oct. 23 inside Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, home of the Kraken.
Local fans will have to wait until December to see the Firebirds in the Coachella Valley but when the team does arrive.
"We're definitely looking forward to getting down to Coachella Valley and playing in our home rink, for sure," said Firebirds Captain Matt McCormick
"We see the updates every day from Acrisure Arena and how exciting that place is going to be to play in and seeing all the fans there on opening night on December 18th is going to be really special," said Evan Pivnick, Firebirds Director of Broadcast and Communications
"Keep waiting. We're coming. We're coming eventually but I hope they got a good view of our team and our players and should have an anticipation on what kind of team we're going to have on the ice when we do get home to CV," said Firebirds head coach Dan Bylsma.
The community will be able to watch games via LIVE broadcast, including their desert debut on Sunday, Dec. 18 at Acrisure Arena.
KESQ News Channel 3's group of stations will be your go-to place to watch Firebirds games on television.
