6.3 Earthquake strikes off the coast of Baja California

About 550 miles to the south of Palm Springs, a 6.3-magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of Baja California. The epicenter was approximately 48 miles to the northeast of Loreto in the state of Baja California Sur. No immediate damage was reported.

The United States Geological Survey reported the quake struck at a depth of 6 miles. The earthquake struck at 8:17 AM Pacific Time. The epicenter was just north of the San Andreas Fault which dissects the Gulf of California. (Is earthquake insurance worth your money? Find out more here)
