“Carved Narrative” exhibit at Sunnylands marks a first for legendary Mexican artists
A new art exhibit at Sunnylands in Rancho Mirage has become the talk of the town.
The exhibit called “Carved Narrative” is the work of Jose and Tomás Chávez Morado, two brothers who were well-known artists from Mexico. The exhibit showcases art that has a special connection to the Annenbergs.
“The Annenbergs, when they visited (Mexico City) in 1967, fell in love with the column that they (The Chavez Morados) created for the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City and they wanted a half-scale replica for their home. So they have it as a wonderful in front of their home.
The display marks the first time that Chavez Morado’s individual and collaborative works are being jointly displayed outside their homeland.
