Locals react to Trump immigration proposal
The White House laid out plans Wednesday for an immigration deal that would include an eventual path to citizenship for nearly two million Dreamers and fund the construction of the border wall.
The framework includes a path to citizenship for 1.8 million immigrants who were brought to the United States illegally as children.

“It’s going to happen at some point in the future over a period of 10 to 12 years,” Trump said.
In exchange, the White House wants $30 billion in border security funding with $25 billion of that for the wall. The framework would scale back the visa lottery system and limit legal immigration through close family ties.

“I do want people to be here I do want people to have the American dream like they say, but you don’t want all the criminals you don’t want all the extra,” said Karissa Luna in Palm Desert.
“No matter where the wall is built they are going to find a way. Whether it’s under it around it over it maybe even through it,” said Jenece Griman of Palm Springs.

“They deserve to just have the papers because they work twice as much as the people do here, and they have been working all their life to achieve that dream,” said Precious Castro of Thousand Palms.
