Hot start to the week, more humidity follows

Saturday night temperatures hover around 100° just after 9 p.m. Air quality in the valley continues to slowly improve with the most challenging spots to the west through the San Gorgonio Pass. Dusty conditions continue as mud dries across valley roadways and is lofted into the atmosphere as cars drive through. Air quality is considered moderate to unhealthy for sensitive groups.

A ridge of high pressure builds across the region for the start of the upcoming work week. Temperatures are expected above 115° for the valley on Monday and Tuesday. The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for our area starting Monday at 10 a.m. A Heat Advisory will be in place for the mountains.

A trough of low pressure moves in by midweek and a surge of monsoonal moisture comes with it. Chances for thunderstorms increase by Friday as temperatures cool closer to 100° for daytime high temperatures. Overnight lows will eventually come back down to the low 80s and upper 70s.
