Palm Springs International Airport launches new Stay and Play Visitor Pass Program

The Palm Springs International Airport launched a new program that allows people to explore the airport without buying an airline ticket, just like old times.

It's called the "Stay and Play Visitor Pass Program."

Non-traveling visitors can obtain a free pass to go beyond the security checkpoint, where they can spend time with loved ones before a flight or greet them at their gate when they land.

Visitors must fill out an online application up to seven days before their visit.

The airport hopes it also allows people to enjoy the many restaurants and new shops opening this year.

"Is PSP unique, or is this the beginning of a trend we're seeing with other airports allowing people in?" News Channel 3's Peter Daut asked Jake Ingrassia, marketing and communications specialist for PSP.

Ingrassia answered, "We have seen certain airports throughout the country pop up with programs similar to this one. So we're certainly not the first, but it's really exciting to bring something like this here to our little airport, and invite everybody right through our doors to see what's going on inside."

Ingrassia added, "This gives people a chance to relive old times, when you could greet returning passengers at the gate, and spend some quality time together and get one more hug in before a departing flight."
