Artist painting mural of Kobe and Gianna Bryant in Coachella

A local artist is paying tribute to Kobe and Gianna Bryant by painting a series of murals of the Laker legend.

Ronan Munoz is the artist behind mural, which will be located on Avenue 50 between Avenida de Plata and Avenida de Oro. Munoz says the owners of the property came up with the idea to honor the legacy of Kobe Bryant.

Joe Rojas, one of the owners of the property, spoke with News Channel 3 about his reasons for wanting this mural.

"The main reason is for the youth of our community cause I know that a lot of them look up to this person for his athletic career that he had. And also for the young fathers, for an example of the way he raised his family and hopefully they can follow his footsteps," Rojas said.

"Kobe Bryant was an example to many people especially in this generation, myself included, so its been an honor to paint this mural,' Munoz said.

Munoz the mural should be finished in the next few days.
