During, Tuesday's news conference, Newsom said the state is considering starting the next school year earlier, possibly in late July, to make up for lost learning during campus closures due to the coronavirus.
On the topic of modifying his orders, Newsom said: "We believe we are weeks, not months away.”
The Governor outlined the four stages for modifying the state's stay-at-home orders.
Stage 2 is where the state starts to slowly reopen some of the lower risk businesses like retails, manufacturing, offices, and other public spaces.
Newsom says they believe stage 2 will come in "weeks, not months."
Stage 3 would see higher risk workplaces start reopen.
Higher risk workplaces are things like personal care (hair and nail salons, gyms), entertainment venues (movie theaters, sports without live audiences) and in-person religious services (churches & weddings)
Stage 4 is the end of the stay-at-home order.
Newsom says stages 3 & 4 would be in "months, not weeks."
