Andy Warhol Prints on display at Palm Springs Art Museum
Andy Warhol has landed in the desert.
“Andy Warhol is one of the most important artists of the 20th century. And this exhibition is unique in that it surveys the artist’s work from his very beginnings as a college student to his death in 1987,” said Mara Gladstone the Associate Curator of the Palm Springs Art Museum.
The Palm Springs Art Museum is welcoming 250 pieces from the legendary Andy Warhol. Those pieces include some of his most famous works, including Campbell’s Soup and Marilyn.
“We are so excited to have them on view here especially in front of this incredibly designed exhibition space,” Gladstone said.
The museum said the artist’s works are perfect for Palm Springs.
“So many of the themes he was excited about celebrity, commerce, Hollywood icons — all of that stuff that Palm Springs is also known for in its history. Warhol really speaks to that,” Gladstone said.
In addition to the prints, the exhibition includes rare books, unique dresses and printmaking workshops.
“Every generation discovers Warhol and we felt like it was really time to reintroduce him to our community here. We haven’t had a big Warhol exhibition here in Palm Springs,” Gladstone said.
The collection will be on display through May 28.
