EXCLUSIVE: Look inside Hotel Paseo ahead of opening
“That’s one of the most Instagrammable moments at the hotel,” Hotel Paseo General Manager Gil Reyes said.
You’ll hear Reyes speak of such Instagrammable moments, like the 1950s airstream trailer he was referring to, or the workout gym that takes you to Cabo, or the sign out front or the putting green out back. Clearly, he’s speaking to a younger crowd. Yet the extravagance and calm of the hotel spans decades.
“I feel like it’s high-end but welcoming, young but elegant. How were you able to encompass all of that?” morning anchor Bianca Rae asked.
“We wanted it to be accessible to a young-minded guest. That crosses across all generations,” Judy Esterbrook, Director of Sales and Marketing for Hotel Paseo, said.
“It’s going to be that fun place to come and enjoy but you also have that luxury feel,” Reyes said.
The city of Palm Desert confirms this is the first hotel on El Paseo. One hundred and fifty rooms – the 150th is the airstream trailer. The goal was for this mid-century modern design hotel to feel very Coachella Valley – very local.
Starting with the art in the lobby from local art galleries. Same with the restaurant, AC3, created by local restaurateurs from Copley’s and Trio in Palm Springs.
“That’s what all Mariotts should have, a locally owned restaurant. Familiar faces, especially in this community,” Andrew Copley, chef/owner of AC3, said.
Outside, by the pool bar and cabanas, an event space that will feature local bands and singers during cocktail hour.
“This is the first hotel in the history of El Paseo, what does it bring to the area that was missing?” Rae asked.
“When you have the high-end shopping and the art and restaurants and there was something that was missing to bring it all together. I think Hotel Paseo is gonna do that,” Reyes said.
The hotel opens Monday. You can make reservations at hotelpaseo.com.
