Sheriff’s department take the court against Desert Mirage High School students & staff

Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies ditched their patrol cars, laced-up their sneakers, and hit the basketball court to take on staff and students at Desert Mirage High School in Thermal.

It was the “Badges versus Seniors and Staff” at Desert Mirage High School Monday morning.

Each year, the Sheriff’s department goes head-to-head with staff and students getting ready to graduate. Both sides say they look forward to it every year.

“So it’s kind of like a tradition here for the seniors, every year the sheriff’s and the teachers sign up to play versus the seniors,” said Jennifer Flores, associated student body president for DMHS.

“It’s just a good time to get out of uniform allow the students to see us in a different light, to see that we are normal human beings and we enjoy the same things that they enjoy,” said investigator Armando Munoz.

The Sheriff’s department team plays three games, one against the staff, one against the students, and one against a combined squad. This year, Desert Mirage won all three games.
