Armed suspect trashes police car after arrest
A 35-year-old Desert Hot Springs man has been charged with several felonies after being arrested on domestic violence charges and trashing the inside of a police vehicle.
Officers were called to the 68000 block of Calle Azteca around 6:20 p.m. Friday for an alleged assault, said Sgt. Christopher Saucier of the Desert Hot Springs Police Department. A woman at the scene told police she had been beaten and chased by Lemar Miller with a rock. Officers contacted Miller and took him into custody. Saucier said Miller had a firearm on him when he was arrested, which he was prohibited from possessing.
While Miller was being booked at the police station, he allegedly assaulted and threatened officers and heavily damaged the inside of a police vehicle. He is charged with felony domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon, making criminal threats, felony resisting arrest, vandalism, being in possession of a firearm while prohibited and arson. He is being held at the Riverside County Jail in Banning
