Man arrested for impersonating an officer

On August 11th, police arrested a man who may have been impersonating an officer. Jeovanny Landeros, a 24-year-old man from Hemet, was arrested for possession of an assault rifle, possession of ammunition, and child endangerment.

Landeros was also in possession of a law enforcement badge and law enforcement equipment with him indicating he may have impersonated a law enforcement officer in the past. Landeros’ vehicle, a 2015 white Mercedez Benz, was equipped with red and blue flashing LED lights, and was likely used during these contacts.

Investigators believe Landeros may have used these items to commit other crimes or contact unsuspecting victims posing as a law enforcement officer. These crimes may have gone unnoticed by a potential victim.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is asking the public’s help to come forward if they believe they were contacted by Landeros. If anyone has information, they are encouraged to call Investigator Alfaro or Investigator Manjarrez at 951-955-1700.
