Person found dead inside Desert Hot Springs apartment following fire
A person was found dead following an apartment fire in Desert Hot Springs Monday afternoon.
Cal Fire was initially called to the Casa West Apartments on Cholla Drive at around 1:50 p.m. to respond to an apartment complex. However, a spokesperson later confirmed that the incident turned out to be some kind of medical issue.
After making contact with the Desert Hot Springs Police Department, firefighters found signs of a previously unreported fire that was extinguished inside. They also found a person who had died at the scene
CAL FIRE Peace Officers are investigating the cause of the fire.
The victim has not been identified at this time.
Reporter Dani Romero spoke with the person who reported the incident to authorities. They say they are the caretaker for the resident of the apartment.
