Palm Springs Apartment Complex Catches Fire Again
A Palm Springs apartment complex that was the scene of a intentionally set fire back in October 2008 caught fire again Wednesday afternoon, fire officials said.
The blaze was reported just after 3:30 p.m. at the Andalucia Apartments located in the corner of Baristo Road and Sunrise Way, the Palm Springs Fire Department confirmed.
News Channel 3 learned that the blaze started by food on a stove in the kitchen area of a second floor studio unit of the three floor multi-building complex.
At least 15 people were evacuated with one person displaced. At least two people suffered smoke inhalation with one of them hospitalized. Firefighters were able to put out the fire just before 4:30 p.m.
This was the same apartment complex in which dozens of units were damaged after, according to fire investigators, a resident there sparked the blaze and caused it to spread.
The resident, Nancy Mohr, 53, later pleaded guilty to felony charges connected to the blaze. She was sentenced to three years probation and time served in jail.
