Big Rig Spills 100 Gallons Of Diesel On Interstate 10

A big rig spilled about 100 gallons of diesel fuel today when its driver veered the vehicle onto the shoulder of westbound Interstate 10 near Desert Center, puncturing a fuel tank, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The spill was reported at 4:08 a.m. on the shoulder of the interstate near state Route 177, said CHP Officer Donovan Rice.

The driver of the big rig went off the interstate for unknown reasons and one of the fuel tanks was ruptured, Rice said.

The fuel did not spill onto the interstate. County health crews were sent to help with the cleanup, according to the CHP.
