AMBER ALERT: Police Investigate Double Kidnapping In Coachella
An Amber Alert has been issued after an 18-year-old woman and her months-old daughter were kidnapped today from a home in Coachella, and sheriff’s deputies are looking for the baby’s father.
Rafael Delgado, 19, allegedly carried Nayelly Maldonado, 18, over his shoulder and the child in his arms and forcibly put them in his car, said Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. The alleged assault and abduction were around 9 a.m. in the 83400 block of Agua Blanca Avenue in Coachella.
The parents do not live together, and had argued before Delgado allegedly took off with Maldonado and the 2-month-old girl, Genesis Delgado, in his copper Nissan Armada, Valenzuela said.
Maldonado’s 13-year-old brother and a 4-year-old sister followed the tussling woman into the house’s front yard, and Delgado is accused of ordering them into the Nissan and later dropping them off at a home on Calle Guitron, according to Valenzuela.
Delgado is known to have relatives in the Los Angeles area and investigators believe he might be en route to that area, Valenzuela said.
The Nissan has a license plate of 5HKH733. Delgado was described as a Latino, around 5 feet-9 inches tall and about 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Maldonado is a Latina, around 5 feet-4 inches tall, 150 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Deputies asked anyone with information to call the sheriff’s department at (760) 836-8990.
